As Safety Fandoms are new this round, we figured it would be good to have a post to both brainstorm eligible safety fandoms, as well as provide an opportunity to sell people on yours. We highly encourage you to note where people are able to access these fandoms in your post.

We had a question on the comm re: Video Game playthroughs which we've updated the rules to address that yes, an accessible playthrough with a run time of under 10 hours is acceptable.

This was not a question we received, but wanted to point out that a crossover ship consisting of characters from two films that have a combined run time of 300 minutes or less would also be considered valid. In that case, both films need to be readily accessible.

Rules/FAQ linked but the specific section on safety fandoms is reproduced below:

Safety Fandom(s)
Safety Fandom(s)
This exchange requires you to sign up with at least one Safety Fandom. A safety fandom is designed to allow Pinch Hitters a reasonable time to enjoy a new canon or review a familiar/old canon if you are unmatchable and no PHs are available for your main fandoms
What is a Safety Fandom?
It must:
  • be in English or have an English translation, AND
  • be a piece of visual media (TV, Movie, etc.) between 15 and 300 minutes (5 hours), OR
  • be a standalone written (reading length) work at 5,000 to 80,000 words (20-140 pages), OR
  • a standalone audio work (song, book, podcast) at 2 to 6 hours, OR
  • a manga of up to 30 chapters, OR
  • a run of up to 30 comics, OR
  • a video game (or an accessible playthrough) that can be completed in under 10 hours, OR
  • a still image or short series of still images.
  • RPF must fit into one of the above categories.

If your choice is rare or hard to acquire, it is not a Safety Fandom.

Photograph with added text: Working Together, at Fancake. Workers in India use wide wooden paddles with long handles to shove a huge yard of drying grains into big piles. The grain, most likely rice, is a beautiful golden color, and there's a mix of western and traditional clothing among the seven men and women.
[community profile] fancake is a thematic recommendation community where all members are welcome to post recs, and fanworks of all shapes and sizes are accepted. Check out the community guidelines for the full set of rules.

This theme runs for the entire month. If you have any questions, just ask!
